Kate Othus, MHA

Kate is the Founder and President of DataDx and DataDx Consulting. Prior to launching DataDx, Kate worked side by side with physicians as a practice CEO and Administrator for various specialty groups. Kate then transitioned to healthcare business consulting, where she developed a high performing consulting team to help serve the private practice market. As both a Practice Administrator and a Healthcare Consultant, Kate has witnessed first-hand the struggles clinics are up against when it comes to data management. She has seen time and again the challenges of making smart decisions with disconnected and often outdated and error prone data. It was this need that drove Kate to launch a software company, DataDx, with a group of other healthcare and engineering experts. Kate spent five years as an adjunct professor at Oregon Health Science University (OHSU). During her time at OHSU, Kate taught Strategic Planning and Organizational Development courses withing the Healthcare Certificate and MBA program. Kate completed her MHA at Portland State University.

Glen Lawrence, MBA

Chief Business Officer
Glen brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare management, finance, and analytics to DataDx. Throughout his career, Glen has focused largely on helping leaders understand the value of data and information in decision-making. As chief business officer, he is responsible for the business strategy and organizational development of DataDx, including activities relating to marketing, sales, product development and customer service. Outside of work, Glen enjoys spending time cooking, reading, and cycling.

Justin Valley, MBA

Chief Operating Officer
Justin has over twenty years experience working in and consulting with clinics, hospitals and health systems. He specializes in medical practice management, operational and financial improvement, benchmarking, rural health clinics, needs assessments, and strategic planning. As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Justin helps his clients increase efficiency, reduce waste, build capacity and maximize productivity. Justin is experienced working with organizations private and public,for-profit and not-for-profit, ranging from single provider clinics to academic health centers. Justin received a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from Oregon State University and his Master of Business Administration from Oregon Health & Science University and Portland State University.

Jon Mattes, MSDS

Director,Analytics & Development
Jon Mattes is the Director of Analytics and Development for DataDx. Jon has a passion for putting valuable data in the hands of decision-makers. He has spent nearly a decade using statistics and artificial intelligence to improve health outcomes and operational effectiveness across provider organizations of all sizes. He works with both clients and development partners to ensure DataDx is always at the cutting-edge of analytics and can provide each practice with the unique insights it needs to succeed.

Eric Schulz, MBA

President, Consulting Division
Eric brings with him 20+ years of experience in the healthcare industry. He is recognized as a healthcare leader who is committed to organizational development, improved services, cost controls, and operational efficiency. Eric received his Bachelor of Science from University of Oregon and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from OHSU. He also serves as Adjunct Faculty for OHSU and Portland State University teaching healthcare executives in both the MS and MBA in Healthcare Management programs.

Courtney Stevenson

Payor Contracting Specialist
Courtney has a decade of experience in the healthcare industry and has worked extensively with both insurance providers and physicians. Prior to joining DataDx Consulting, she managed a provider relations team at a nationwide insurance company and coordinated member services for a large health plan provider in Oregon. Courtney earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Management and Policy from Oregon State University, as well as a Certificate in Healthcare Administration and Management from Oregon Health & Science University. She is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Denise Roberts

Executive Recruiter
Denise joins DataDx Consulting with eight years of experience in recruiting for various industries, ranging from oil field services, technology, telecommunications, and most recently healthcare. Her recruiting philosophy is to build strong relationships with both candidates and clients to ensure a successful transition into a new role and organization, which has been proven in the candidates she has placed at various client sites and roles. Understanding the skills gap and needs of an organization looking to bring on a new hire is just as essential as understanding the candidate’s ideal future role, and what is most important to both. Denise has gained sourcing and recruiting skills from some of the country’s top independent recruiters and has made them her own to make an unforgettable candidate and client experience. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York.

Noelle Vilela

Payor Enrollment Specialist
Noelle offers over a decade of experience in the medical field, having served in a variety of administrative roles to support patients, physicians, surgeons, hospital presidents, and executive leadership. Noelle works with clients to identify procedural redundancies and other areas for administrative improvement. She enjoys exploring new ways to streamline existing processes to increase efficiency and is passionate about reducing drag in medical organizations so that physicians can focus on delivering excellent patient care. Additionally, Noelle is passionate about facilitating teamwork to help practices run smoothly. She works with people from diverse backgrounds to understand how their teams can work together more productively and cultivate healthy professional relationships.

Jayme Barnes

Director of Marketing
Jayme has nearly a decade of healthcare focused marketing experience. Her experience working with hospital executives and physicians within multiple lines of business helps her support the DataDx team’s marketing initiatives. She has provided support in organizing large projects including clinic development and growth, physician recruitment, service line marketing plans, and physician education events. As a member of the DataDx team Jayme oversees and implements marketing campaigns, collateral, social media content, and special events. Jayme holds a Bachelors of Science in Corporate Communications.

Ben Lawrence, MBI, RHIA

Manager, Analytics
Ben Lawrence is the Manager of Analytics for DataDx. Before joining the team at DataDx, Ben worked with clinicians, payors, and quality improvement analysts to support population health initiatives and reporting on clinical quality metrics using health information exchange. After working with a variety of healthcare standards and big data sets, Ben understands the importance of DataDx software's role in making financial and clinical data easily accessible to doctors. He enjoys using Python programming language to make sense of complex data sets and helped develop the DataDx Anomaly Detection system with Jon Mattes. Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Portland State University, a Master of Biomedical Informatics from Oregon Health & Science University, and is certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association.

Cassie Randolph

Product Manager
Cassie Randolph is the Product Manager for DataDx. Cassie has spent the last eight years of her career in the healthcare industry; beginning in the insurance space and slowly transitioning into an IT role. She has spent the bulk of her time and effort working with clinicians, Electronic Health Records, and Third-Party Vendors to improve healthcare data interoperability. In the last several years she has implemented hundreds of HL7 and clinical document interfaces through various health information analytic platforms. Her goal is to continue to support the development of highly efficient healthcare data exchange initiatives for today’s growing need. Cassie holds a Bachelor of Science in Writing and Rhetoric from the University of Utah and is pursuing her Master of Science in Information Technology with an emphasis on healthcare from Kennesaw State University.

Patrick Andersen

Manager, Engineering
Patrick is the Manager of Engineering for DataDx. He began his career in healthcare technology as a tech support specialist for a claims adjudication software vendor. Since that time, he has logged over a decade of experience in various areas of healthcare technology and development with a focus on EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). Patrick is passionate about creating an interactive and useful analytics platform that providers can use to ensure better care for their patients. Patrick’s combination of clinical workflows, reporting, government regulations, EDI and software development knowledge created a solid foundation for his role as a Data Analyst with Reliance eHealth Collaborative, a non-profit health information exchange. He believes in building a long lasting and trusting relationship with customers. He seeks to acquire a comprehensive evaluation of every customer by taking time to listen and understand their particular needs. His true desire is to enhance a positive experience and confidence to those trying to better the health care industry.

Ahmed Abualsoud

Business Analyst
Before joining the DataDx team, Ahmed worked as Data Analyst for Northwest Acute Care Specialists, an emergency physicians’ group. He also had a volunteering experience with Legacy Health Information Systems department joining the Production Engineering team during his studies at Portland Community College (PCC). Moving from Palestine, Ahmed enrolled in PCC where he studied English and business introductory classes and fell in love with the greenery of the Pacific Northwest. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems which has helped him pursue a career in data analytics. He has a passion for mining and making sense of data and using visualization tools to extract insights and interesting knowledge and with the skills he is learning, there is no better industry to put his skills to work like healthcare. In his free time, he likes to explore the city, go on a hike, stay indoors and cook and playing and watching soccer.
